The second album by Madonna, Like A Virgin, in the notoriety that it has, other than the more popular songs, it was pretty difficult to listen to.  When I thought that, I instantly thought of the music that was around in 1984.  As much as I love the whole pop/disco movement, I did not agree with the rest of the songs.  Material Girl, Like A Virgin and Love Don't Live Here Anymore are possibly the only good songs on this record, of course because these are the songs that made Madonna what she is today (plus her extraordinary open views that she incorporated into her music/appearance).  But when it's all said and done, at the end of the day -- listening to this record in a whole can be pretty painful getting through certain tracks.

One of the best selling albums of all-time, Carole King's Tapestry is golden.  This album, from start to  finish, is one of the greatest ever.  Most of these songs have been covered by many, Carole King is one of the best selling female solo artists of all time.  It amazes me that this album  has been listed on the Billboard 200 for 300 weeks between 1971 - 2011.  That, right there, is IMPRESSIVE.  Such a soothing and relaxing album, Carole King's voice, the way she sings each song, will put you in a relaxation state.  Definitely one album to have in your collection, hands down!

SWEET CAROLINE!!  Enough said!  This album is great, but Sweet Caroline is my favorite.  I do have to admit, that is the real reason I bought this record, but after listening to whole album, it's not that bad.  A bit on the mellow side, it was very enjoyable.

Common Mistake

I wonder if it is a common mistake among employees to not give two craps about vinyl records in Goodwill because they figured they are already damaged.  Better yet, maybe they do it to surprise the person who spends countless minutes searching high and low for an album and when he finds it and looks at the price, he/she figures, "Why the hell not!"  Little does he/she know that not only is there one record in the sleeve, there are TWO.  And not just any random two records that have NOTHING to do with each other, but TWO records by his/her FAVORITE ARTIST.  What's that called now, a DOUBLE WHAMMIE!!  So here I present to you, my one hundred sixteenth pick that included my one hundred fifteenth pick.

George Michael's first solo album, Faith is a really interesting record, now that I think about it.  For the most part, when I first heard some of these songs, I danced my little heart out.  I was about seven years old when this album came out and I specifically remember hearing I Want Your Sex and thinking, what does this mean?!?!?  A confused little girl, I simply skipped the chorus and sang the lyrics and dances to the beat.  I guess what's funny to me, hearing it now, 26 years later, I laugh at what it says.  The main song on this record, I would think, would have to be Faith, because it has a pop beat, which typically makes for a good dance record.  On that note, if you didn't know, George Michael was from the pop group Wham! before he went solo.
