De Cualquier Manera que Me Quieres (Anyway You Want Me) (That's How I Will Be)
Te Quiero, Te Necesito, Te Amo (I Want You, I Need You, I Love You)

This record is a very interesting one, to say the least.  A friend of mine from back home (South Florida) told me his grandfather gave him this record but he did not know what to do with it so he asked me if I wanted it.  He said it was from Argentina and it's an Elvis Presley record, so I told him to send it on over.  Much to my surprise, when I opened the package, I saw that it was in SPANISH.  I was talking with my co-workers about how excited I was to play this because, I thought, Elvis was going to sing in Spanish.  When I got home, I immediately put on the record and began to laugh.  It was sung in English.  I was only slightly disappointed, but got over it real quick as each track ended and another one started.  What more can you ask for than this rare gem and having Elvis' hits on one record.  I love, love, love this record.  So I thank my friend back in Miami for not only thinking of me because he had a record he did not know what to do with, but for adding to my collection this really great record.

It's Never Enough

Two Hundred Ninety-Six

Artist - The Steve Miller Band
Album - Book of Dreams
Released - 1977
Label - Capitol Records
Genre - Rock

Tracks:
Side One
Threshold
Jet Airliner
Winter Time
Swingtown
True Fine Love
Wish Upon A Star
Side Two
Jungle Love
Electro Lux Imbroglio
Sacrifice
The Stake
My Own Space
Babes in the Woods

The more I play these older records, the more surprised I am to see such amazing music in true form.  The Steve Miller Band has been around...well they formed in 1967.  Book of Dreams is their tenth record and after finding this out, I'd like to go out on search for all The Steve Miller Band records. Their sound is so psychedelic and trippy and the vocals are great. The guitar playing on this record, for that time, was so futuristic.  The next time I stop at a record store, which should be fairly soon, I will put out an APB on The Steve Miller Band records.

Drawings

Two Hundred First

Artist - Cat Stevens
Album - Izitso
Released - 1977
Label - A&M Records
Genre - Folk/Pop/Rock

Tracks:
Side 1
Old Schoolyard
Life
Killin' Time
Kypros
Bonfire
Side 2
To Be A Star
Crazy
Sweet Jamacia
Was Dog a Doughnut
Child For a Day

Cat Stevens is an interesting character, from what I gather, but this album is definitely an interesting one.  With more synthesizer and an electronic feel, this record is more as a pop type record than I would imagine what other folk type rock comes from Cat Stevens.  Quite an enjoyable record, I still think there are other great records by Cat Stevens out there.  For now, here you go!

Enjoy!!!

A New Thing

One Hundred Eighty-Third

Artist - Rush
Album - A Farewell to Kings
Released - 1977
Label - Mercury
Genre - Progressive Rock/Hard Rock

Tracks:
A Farewell To Kings
Xanadu
Closer to the Heart
Cinderella Man
Madrigal
Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage

The fifth album by Rush, A Farewell to Kinds is a recommendation by a very special friend.  It's not often I come across these special people, but when I do, I like to keep them around for a while!  I couldn't necessarily say I'm a huge fan of Rush, but I've heard some of their albums throughout my illustrious years.  I did decide to feature them on my blog simply for the fact that my friend recommended it.  He mentioned to me that his favorite track was Xanadu, so why not make the man smile with a simple play of the record.  I could lie and type a bunch of words regarding my own opinion of this record, but I have to admit I was definitely distracted.  But from what I heard, I liked and it always amazes me that when I do listen to Rush, I always think of how HIGH PITCHED Geddy's voice it.  I guess that's one of the things I like most about this band, it's not like your usual prog rock, since the majority of the sounds are far out there, which I think put a specific touch what the band explores as far as style.  A Farewell to Kings would become Rush's first US Gold selling album.

Shock Me, Shock Me, Shock Me with your Ways

Sometimes I sit and think a lot about my day, the things I did and the things I want to do at the moment.  So when I asked Kevin to pick out an record for me because I was drained, he picked this one.  I do have a little confession to make though, I TECHNICALLY listened to it yesterday after my one hundred third pick. It was so good I wanted to listen twice, so here's to you, my one hundred fourth pick.

Artist - Wire
Album - Pink Flag
Released - 1977
Label - EMI
Genre - Punk Rock

Tracks:
Side 1
Reuters
Field Day for the Sundays
Three Girl Rhumba
Ex Lion Tamer
Lowdown
Start to Move
Brazil
It's So Obvious
Surgeon's Girl
Pink Flag
Side 2
The Commercial
Straight Line
106 Beats That
Mr. Suit
Strange
Fragile
Mannequin
Different to Me
Champs
Feeling Called Love
12 x U

The debut album by Wire, Pink Flag is your best kept secret.  Out of the hundreds of vinyl records at my disposal, this one was on rotation to pick, but I kept pushing it back.  Then, the other day, I was so tired from work and running that I had my roommate pick out a record for me and he picked this one.  When I heard Mannequin, I fell in love.  You know, like those songs you hear for the first time and they just make you feel a certain way.  There have been a few songs that I felt like that about, one being Nirvana's Verse Chorus Verse.  So that being said, I gave this record TWO listens I liked it so much.  What's not to love about a punk rock band from London.

Enjoy!

Boom, Boom, CLAP

I guess you can consider this album another Olypmic appropriate album.  For my one-hundred and third pick.

Artist - Queen
Album - News of the World
Released - 1977
Label - EMI
Genre - Rock

Tracks:
Side One
We Will Rock You
We Are The Champions
Sheer Heart Attack
All Dead, All Dead
Spread Your Wings
Fight From the Inside
Side Two
Get Down, Make Love
Sleeping on the Sidewalk
Who Needs You
It's Late
My Melancholy Blues

The sixth studio album by Queen, News of the World is a very different album.  I say different in a sense that you when listen to this album in it's entirety, you would be pretty shocked.  Here you have, possibly, the two best songs that will pump you up, EVER!!  I'm speaking of the first two songs off this record, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.  If those songs don't get you pumped, you have no soul, SERIOUSLY!! But after that, the vibe of this album is very unique.  It has a blues sound, a blues rock sound and then a slow, island/tropical type sound.  What's the word I'm looking for....EXOCTIC!!  It's not a bad album at all and I'm not trying to put that out there.  What I like the best about this album is that it's so different.  I love and always will love Freddie Mercury's voice.  Such a talented individual, such a great musician!

Rumours...

I sit in front of my extensive vinyl record collection (can't take all the credit, the majority are my roommates), I think about what could possible satisfy my long, exhausting day.  Then I thought of it!!  What better way to bring an end to a great night by playing my eighty-first pick.

Artist - Fleetwood Mac
Album - Rumours
Released - 1977
Label - Warner Bros.
Genre - Pop/Rock

Tracks:
Second Hand News
Dreams
Never Going Back Again
Don't Stop
Go Your Own Way
Songbird
The Chain
You Make Loving Fun
I Don't Want to Know
Oh Daddy
Gold Dust Woman

The eleventh album by Fleetwood Mac, Rumours brought the band a lot of success with many songs from this album.  A great record, you can see just how young and talented this band was with songs like DreamsDon't Stop, Go Your Own Way and You Make Loving Fun.  I do admit that it's been quite some time that I've heard this record and to remind myself how good it is, it really is rewarding to me.

Enjoy!

Mystery Man

The thirteenth is pretty stellar if you ask me!!!

Artist - David Bowie
Album - Low
Released - 1977
Label - RCA

6. Be My Wife
7. A New Career In A New Town
8. Warszawa

When I hear this record, I know exactly where I am.  In Hollywood, Florida at my duplex with my mattress in the living room, sleeping there because I was studying for the LSAT and watching TV on the big screen at night.  I remember it like it was yesterday, but in all honesty, it was about 5 years ago.  Man does time fly.  Flies right by you and before you realize where you are, you realize it went fast.

Listen and enjoy!
