This weekend is going to be EPIC, well at least tonight and tomorrow will be. Tonight I will be seeing No Age at Beauty Bar and this will be my third time seeing them, so I'm really excited but I will make sure to bring earplugs. Tomorrow I will be seeing A Place To Bury Strangers, which I haven't seen since SXSW 2008 (my first SXSW). So to honor this epic weekend, here is my forty-second pick:
Artist - Japandroids
Album - Celebration Rock
Released - 2012
Label - Polyvinyl Record
Genre - Garage Rock, Noise Pop
Tracks:
Side A
The Nights of Wine and Roses
Fire's Highway
Evil's Sway
For The Love of Ivy
Side B
Adrenaline Nightshift
Younger Us
The House That Heaven Built
Continuous Thunder
Japandroids is a duo hailing from Vancouver, B.C. who first entered my life in 2009 and I've also had the pleasure of seeing at the back of Urban Outfitters in Austin Texas during SXSW 2010. One of my favorite finds, I believe Japandroids have come a long way since forming in 2006. Most of the time it's pretty hard to just catch a break, but at this day and age, with the internet being as efficient and demanding as ever, you could either make it or break it. Each song on this record is shows you how LOUD a two piece can sound. You would think they had other members in their band if you were to listen to them without seeing a photo. I've had the pleasure of seeing them twice and the second time around had to be the best. Definitely a band worth seeing!
Enjoy!
